PROGRAMS

COVYE provides shelter, medical services, legal and health referrals, and economic empowerment trainings.

We aim to increase accessibility to these services through fostering awareness, sharing critical information, providing innovative education, and facilitating timely interventions through strategic partnerships.

We strongly urge our dear donors, funders, well wishers and community to support our vulnerable community to avoid and control diseases in our community.

Kindly consider donating to support at-risk youth.

COVYE’s shelter is a security project that supports victims of human rights violations in the region. Primarily from the Masaka region of Uganda, our clients face hostility from their families and the communities where they have grown, lived, and worked for many years. They experience legal persecution, and many have recently escaped punishment by law enforcement as well as community mob justice.

The COVYE security team works hand in hand with the Uganda Minority Shelters Consortium to assist shelter applicants. After assessment, we offer secure accommodations for a period of 3 to 6 months. With mental health and economic empowerment support, clients receive trainings in security, economic empowerment, and social ethics.

Supporting Our Shelters

We struggle to support everyone who needs help. Every single day, COVYE receives applicants for shelter support, and because of our financial constraints, we must support only a few youth at a time. Our limitations have dire results: Because we cannot help everyone, some of our community members are punished by their families and communities. Others experience other ongoing violations to their human rights, serious consequences to their mental health, permanent illness, or even loss of life.

Please support these vulnerable youth.

COVYE’s health clinic offers our clients free medical services.

As a part of our mission, we work tirelessly to increase community access to testing for HIV, hepatitis, and other infectious or sexually transmitted diseases. We offer general medical care; minor surgeries; family planning, gynaecological, antenatal, maternity, and postnatal care; immunizations, dental services, and lab services.

Supporting Our Clinic

We acknowledge that our medical services are limited. Because of our financial constraints, we cannot offer all the services that this community needs. Our limitations hurt youth: So many youth who cannot afford medical care also face stigma, discrimination, and isolation when they try to get help at public facilities. Lack of medical care directly leads to higher rates of sexually transmitted and airborne diseases, which can lead to loss of life.

Please help keep these vulnerable youth healthy

To help the community gain a strong economic footing, we regularly conduct trainings on financial literacy, job-ready skills, business management, and marketing.

Supporting The Next Generation

When youth benefit from business education, startup capital, and business support, we all benefit. The youth break cycles of dependency by creating independent, sustainable livelihoods, and the entire economy grows more powerful as a result!

Help build a stronger Uganda

In addition to providing youth with financial education, we actively foster awareness and educate the community about other important aspects of life: health, law, and life skills. We do this regularly through a variety of formats – via community outreach, workshops, peer-to-peer education, and online.

We invite all community members to participate.

Our teams attend regular security trainings to better protect the communities we proudly serve. We update and upgrade our physical and cybersecurity measures on an ongoing basis.

When one of our clients has been arrested or detained, we support them with our community paralegal team, and help them through the bail bond process.

For other legal aid and support, COVYE currently provides referrals.
